For Our Future

Over the past quarter century, the Blue Jackets’ no-cost education programs have brought hockey into the classroom to teach teamwork, responsibility and respect in a fun, interactive way.

A priority of the Blue Jackets and the Blue Jackets Foundation has been, and continues to be, making reading accessible to all children in our community by investing in education through literacy.

Ruling Our Experiences

Blue Jackets Regional Spelling Bee

This year, the Blue Jackets proudly became the first NHL team to partner with the Scripps National Spelling Bee — a milestone that highlights our ongoing commitment to education and youth development throughout central Ohio.

More than 4,200 students from across the region participated in our inaugural Regional Spelling Bee, showcasing their dedication, discipline, and love of learning. After months of preparation and competition, Avinav Prem Anand from Orange Middle School emerged as our 2025 Regional Champion. He went on to represent central Ohio on the national stage in Washington, D.C., finishing 20th out of 243 of the top young spellers in the country.

$10,000 Invested to support Reading at Home literacy program

Through support generously provided by Ohio’s 529 Plan, CollegeAdvantage, the family services team and crisis counselors at LSS Choices were able to replenish their childrens library. This allowed them to incorporate books and reading in a natural, holistic manner, helping children process their thoughts and emotions, enhance their literacy, and discover that reading can be a fun activity.
